Yes: Acupuncturists use sterile packaged one time use only needles, acupuncture is safe, there may be some soreness, or swelling after treatment but this is normal and no cause for concern. What is TCM? is it safe does it work?
Traditional Chinese Medicine or TCM has been used for thousands of years in China and in some form or other through out India and Asia. TCM practitioners look at the WHOLE body and it's symptoms, ask important questions about diet, sleep, Menstruation and more the get a big picture of the ailment, not just the outward manifestation or symptom, we than work with you to help formulate treatment with the tools we have, i.e. Massage, diet, Herbal Medicine, Orthomolcular Medicine, needling and more. TCM is often used hand in hand with western medicine.
Will I have to take any weird pills, do strange meditation or stop eating hamburgers?
No, we won't ask you to join a cult either!, all kidding aside, Many of the things we eat and drink today change our bodies, alter the natural flow of energy and promote disease. Alot of the pills and medicines you take today are derived from natural herbs but are than synthesized by drug makers so they are cheaper and affect the body faster but not always for the better. In recent years a shift to alternative medicine has been happening, many people now see Herbalists, Naturopaths , TCM practitioners and more, and most people use all of them together to form a great of healing professionals. We make suggestions on diet, exercise, lifestyle and more but in the end it's up to you what you do with your gift of a body.
Can anyone Practise this stuff?
Yes and No: It takes years of dedication to learn and understand than put into use the practises of Chinese/Herbal and Orthomolecular Medicine and all that it entails. The best IMHO is word of mouth from my clients, if your unsure of the practitioner, ask questions, do some research and most of all trust your gut, I normally do not even treat my clients at first, we sit, have tea and discuss the person, form a friendship and a plan than go from there. Anyone can take online course and hang diplomas on their wall, but it's how you feel around them, about them and what people say is the true test for me personally. I have spent and still spend many hours learning, researching and training to better myself for my patients.

Should I see my doctor first before I seek other treatments?
I leave that up to you, many older doctors today dismiss "alternative Medicine" as quackery and nonsense, but when it comes to certain issues I myself see my family doctor, not as much as I used too but I do from time to time. Remember it's your health and in hindsight western medicine is the alternative medicine in history. I like to think that I can work with western medicine in creating a whole approach to help the patient to heal themselves. I do not diagnose, , prescribe, or offer allopathic drugs, surgery, or prescribe any medicine for which a licence is required. I also do not discourage you seeing your family doctor or health professional in fact I encourage it!
